This is the first in a four part series blog post spotlighting the LexisNexis’ Law360.
Law360 is a news source dedicated to gathering news coverage on a variety of legal topics. The website offers in depth breaking news and analysis in every major practice area of the law. The homepage is constantly updating its breaking news features; each visit will likely show a list of very recently added articles written by reporters in over a dozen major cities. Law 360 boasts over 220 new articles every day from all over the world.
The Law 360 home page gives quick access to some of the most important features of the site in general including the search bar at the top of the page. The advanced search function is very detailed and the button for that search is to the right of the search bar. On the left side of the Law 360 is the direct links to the sections of the law that the site covers. This allows visitors to separate the news stories that are of the most interest to them and their practice.

The center of the homepage is dedicated to their breaking news or newly published articles. It updates as new articles are published, with the newest article at the top of the page. When a new article is published, it takes the top spot while the previous article is moved down. As stated earlier, over 220 news articles that have some effect on the law are published daily and the news section is always changing. Below is a view of the homepage with emphasis on the breaking news section.
Also on the Law 360 homepage is a small slide show on the right hand side. The slide show lists five of the most popular parts of the site that are of interest to visitors. One of those parts that might be interesting to law students is the link to Law 360’s “Pro Say” podcast. Below is a picture of where to find this part of the Law 360 home page.
On the top left of the homepage, Law 360 has three lines that, if clicked, open the site navigation bar. This function is the easiest way to view the majority of the functions that Law 360 offers including the important sections of the law that the website covers, the In-depth function (which is discussed later on) and far more. It is the easiest way to explore what the website offers if a visitor is not sure what they are looking for. Below is a picture of how to find the navigation bar on the home page.
Access to the Law360 database is available through the Texas Tech Law Library website under the Electronic Databases tab.
